Jon Jones moving up to the heavyweight division has left all the fans and fighters curious as to how his move will go about. Moreover, the UFC legend will take on Ciryl Gane for the heavyweight championship at UFC 285. Fans are also wondering how Gane will provide a tough fight for Jones. Furthermore, the UFC legend had approached a former rival regarding a move to the heavyweight. Jon Jones’ former rival in the UFC, Ryan Bader, has recently revealed that Jones ‘hit him up’ regarding a heavyweight move. Bader had some words for Jones ahead of his tough fight against Gane. ‘Darth’ also revealed why working with Jones didn’t make sense.
Ryan Bader reveals Jon Jones approached him
Ryan Bader finished his matchup against Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator 290 via round 1 ground and pound. Furthermore, during the post-fight interview, ‘Darth’ was asked about UFC Legend Jon Jones, who he faced in the octagon in the early part of last decade. The reporter asked him what he thought of ‘Bones’ moving to the heavyweight division.

Bader answered, “I think he’s gonna do great.” Despite their earlier rivalry, ‘Darth’ thinks that Jones will do good in his recent move up into the heavyweight division. Moreover, he continued saying that Jones actually contacted him speaking about the move up to the heavyweight division. He added, “He actually hit me up… train little bit, that was during camp and didn’t make sense”.
However, the former UFC fighter revealed that the duo could not train together as it fell during his training camp. Bader also commented on the next matchup of ‘Bones’ for the heavyweight championship.

He continued while speaking on Jones’ fight with Ciryl Gane, “I think he’s gonna be, I think it’s a great matchup for him too with his wrestling… I think he takes care of business pretty easily on that one.”

It was good to see Bader speaking positively about Jones, given their rivalry in the past.Jones gave Ryan Bader his first loss in professional MMA
Ryan Bader was an undefeated fighter until he met Jon Jones. ‘Darth’ was 12-0 leading up to UFC 126. With a perfect record, Bader was confident of securing a win against a young Jones. However, that wasn’t to be the case as ‘Bones’ defeated Bader in round 2 via guillotine choke.
