It may be difficult to believe Joe Rogan had a tough life. Rogan, before he became the success story he is today, started with very humble beginnings. In an episode, the podcaster opened up about his biological father and the problems he faced in his childhood.

Rogan’s biological father, Joseph Rogan, is a retired police officer. The UFC commentator claimed he has very few memories of him, as his parents divorced when he was just 5. However, the little memories he has of his father are dark.

Joe Rogan Claimed His Father Was Violent and Abusive

He said on his podcast that his father would beat his mother and cousin. As reported by ‘Your Tango’, Rogan said, “He beat the f-k out of my mother, he beat the f-k out of my cousin. He picked my cousin up by his hair, dude.”

He even used the word ‘psychotic’ to describe his father.

In his own words, Rogan remembered when a quarrel between him, who liked King Kong, and his cousin, who liked Godzilla, occurred. He said his father pulled him inside a room, shut the door, and questioned whether he cried.

Rogan’s mother divorced his father due to the abuse. They moved from Newark, New Jersey to San Francisco, California. She met Rogan’s stepdad later on, who was a computer programmer before he became an architect. Rogan explained, “All of a sudden I’m living with this hippie guy in San Francisco with a bunch of gay people … and it’s all like peace and love, it’s the ‘70s man.”

In a recent article by ‘The Sun’, it was reported that Rogan’s biological father reportedly said he had no regrets for not talking with his son for 40 years. His daughter even stepped up to defend the abuse of her father in this interview, saying, “my father is the original Joe Rogan”.

Rogan: His family life now

The UFC commentator may not have had an ideal early life. However, he has a lot going on for him currently. Apart from being a successful podcaster, UFC commentator, and comedian, he has a great family life. He is married to Jessica Ditzel.

The couple shares two daughters. Joe Rogan also adopted Ditzel’s daughter from her previous relationship.
