UFC 281 is just hours away, and the excitement is through the roof. Aside from the two title fights, the lightweight bout between Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier is also a fan favorite. Prior to their highly anticipated clash, ‘The Diamond’ had some hot sauce jokes for ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler.

#2 ranked Dustin Poirier will face #5 ranked Michael Chandler in a fight with potential title shot implications. After weighing in, Poirier sat down to have a chat with the UFC 281 weigh-in show team. One member of the team asked Poirier about sending his hot sauce to his opponent. ‘The Diamond’s reply cracked up the whole team.
Poirier says Michael Chandler paid full price for the sauce
During the brief chat, the interview team asked Poirier if he sent his hot sauce to Chandler, which the latter used in a video about a year ago. The interviewer had only begun to mention how Chandler tried to be funny and threw it away when Poirier interjected, “I didn’t send him sh*t! He bought that.”

The team immediately cracked up at Poirier’s response. Daniel Cormier, who was on the team, asked if Poirier was not going to give Chandler any of his hot sauce. “Hell no! He’ll get it tomorrow night,” said Poirier. He continued, “He didn’t even get the promo code. He didn’t even get the ‘swipe up, save ten percent.’ Full price. Retail.”

Poirier and the interview team had a laugh about the conversation. However, there has been a rivalry growing between the lightweights over the last couple of months. It began with an altercation between the pair at UFC 276, where Dustin Poirier went off at Michael Chandler.
Four months removed from the incident, the pair will settle their differences at UFC 281 in Madison Square Garden.

Chandler said UFC 281 is personal to Dustin Poirier
Back in September, Michael Chandler said during an interview that their fight was personal to Dustin Poirier. The #5 lightweight said that things were cordial between him and Poirier initially. However, the situation changed after Chandler signed up for the UFC. The 36-year-old believes that tensions started arising after they signed up for the same organization and became competitors. Chandler said,
“I think it’s personal because of me, but not toward me, if that makes sense… Dustin’s been the guy for a very, very long time, and I was the guy who came in and have done what I’ve done. I don’t think it’s necessarily directed toward me personally, just this figure of this guy who is me stepping inside the cage.”
Poirier vs. Chandler is a potential fight-of-the-year candidate. Both men have delivered exciting fights before. As their rivalry takes center stage, another exciting chapter in the division’s history will be written.
