The upcoming boxing match between free agent Nate Diaz and Jake Paul, scheduled for August 5, encountered a setback as the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation[TDLR] denied Diaz’s marijuana exemption request. This denial has forced Diaz to reassess his plans and consider alternative options. The TDLR’s decision not only raised concerns about the fight itself but also about the potential consequences if Diaz were to test positive for marijuana.

In order to mitigate any fight-altering issues and create a safe smoking environment, Diaz has taken to Twitter, hinting at the necessity to relocate to a different state. His tweet indicates his willingness to explore alternative locations to ensure his preparations are not hampered.

As the dust settles, Diaz’s teammate sheds some light on the situation, providing a clearer picture of what unfolded and how Diaz will have to navigate through this obstacle.

Shields weighed in on the magnitude of the event and the circumstances of it. He expressed, “But ultimately, you know, it’s too big of a fight. Too much money to really cancel it and move it over the w**d thing. So instead, I think, he’s just gonna stop smoking. He wasn’t stoked, but it’s like, trying to move fight, it’s too much work. So, it didn’t make sense when everything was already in play.”
