Not all title shots are made equal. But Charles Oliveira‘s upcoming title shot against Islam Makhachev is certainly well deserved. This is because the Brazilian was the heavyweight champion until last year when he lost it to Makhachev in a second-round defeat at UFC 280.

And since then he has made a statement by beating Beneil Dariush in the first round at UFC 289, and is ready to take on the Dagestani again to reclaim his title. However, the UFC has recently made a move about the bout that has the fans are up in arms.

Mateusz Gamrot reportedly to be backup for Islam Makhachev vs. Charles Oliveira rematch

Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev will fight for the 155 pound title at UFC 294 on October 21 in the UAE. And in case either fighter misses weight, Mateusz Gamrot has reportedly been approached by the UFC to serve as the backup fighter to replace them.

The Polish Gamrot has a 23-0 record and was last seen in the octagon against Rafael Fiziev, which he won via a knockout in the second round at UFC Fight Night in February 2023. And fans had a strong reaction to this.
