UFC bantamweight fighter and commentator Dominick Cruz spoke to the media ahead of fight week for UFC 269. The final numbered pay-per-view of the year has gotten everyone excited and Cruz had plenty of thoughts to share on the card. Additionally, Cruz dropped a bombshell on fans that hinted towards a minor rift between himself and Daniel Cormier.

Cruz revealed that he wasn’t a huge fan of Cormier’s commentary and usually muted it when he came on. At the UFC 269 pre-event media interaction, ‘The Dominator’ said, “When it comes to ‘DC,’ I usually mute it. I love DC, he’s my friend, but to me, from my experience, he doesn’t do the homework. He wants to get in and out, get the job done, make his money, and I think he cares about us, but it’s just different.”

“He doesn’t do the preparation from my experience. He might now, I’m hoping he watches some film this time on me so he knows what I’m doing and why I’m doing it, but I’m not gonna hold my breath on that, that’s for sure.”

Is Dominick Cruz’s criticism of Daniel Cormier justified?

Cruz has always been one of the most outspoken fighters on the roster. However, his recent criticism of Cormier will certainly hit home. He’s gone so far as to say that Daniel Cormier is involved with the commentary bench to ‘make his money’.

However, some fans have indeed slammed ‘DC’ for being biased, amongst other things, when talking about his teammates. A segment of the fanbase has expressed their displeasure when it comes to Cormier voicing Islam Makhachev’s fights. However, seeing Cruz, a long-time friend and collaborator, call out ‘DC’ publicly, is a whole different story.
