Ciryl Gane absolutely annihilated Derrick Lewis at UFC 265 to capture the interim UFC heavyweight title. His performance left UFC’s color commentator, Joe Rogan, amazed. Rogan wasn’t on the desk for his commentary duties for the pay-per-view. However, given his affinity for the sport, one can only imagine he kept a close eye on the blockbuster fight.

Recently, Rogan had a chat with Lex Fridman at the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast and the fight between Gane and Lewis came up. ‘Bon Gamin’ is set to face Francis Ngannou next in a unification bout for the heavyweight belt. Rogan shared a brief preview of that contest as well.

And the technical acumen that he showed, the skill, the technique, the footwork, the movement, the understanding of distance, the ability to control everything that happened inside the octagon was spectacular. It changed my opinion of how would a fight with him and Francis Ngannou would go down,” said Rogan.

At first my thought is that Francis Ngannou has the nuclear option with everybody. He has such fu*king power,” he added talking about Ngannou’s unmatched knockout prowess.

But when you watch Cyril Gane, you go man. How the fu*k does anybody? It’s like Francis has excellent technique. Francis has ridiculous power. But he doesn’t have the movement that Gane has. The question is, can Francis deal with the movement and maybe threaten him in a way that Derrick Lewis didn’t figure out how to and that’s what makes the fight so interesting,” Rogan added.

Will Ciryl Gane dethrone Francis Ngannou?

It takes Ngannou one shot to change the course of any fight. That being said, no one has ever managed to catch Gane with a clean shot yet. His movement and the ability to mix kicks and punches is a unique prospect in the heavyweight division of the UFC.

Gane’s growth inside the UFC’s cage is nothing short of spectacular. At just 10-0 as a professional, he is being touted as a possible future GOAT at the heavyweight weight class.

He has already defeated some perennial heavyweight contenders like Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alexander Volkov, Junior Dos Santos and Derrick Lewis. Whether he can do the same to ‘The Predator‘ and become the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, remains to be seen.
