“He Doesn’t Look as Physical…” – NBA Ace Passes His Verdict on Undefeated UFC Stars Shavkat Rakhmonov & Khamzat Chimaev’s Potential Battle

The UFC is currently home to many global superstars, but at one point they were all just young fighters trying to make a name for themselves. The company has amplified the careers of various such athletes and helped them achieve global stardom. One such athlete is none other than Khamzat Chimaev. Recently, NBA superstar Michael Carter-Williams gave his opinion on a potential fight between Chimaev and rising star Shavkat Rakhmonov.
With the recent UFC card done and dusted, “MMA Junkie” took to Twitter to ask the public if Rakhmonov was better than Chimaev. Carter-Williams quoted the tweet and gave his verdict on this fantasy matchup.

He tweeted, “I don’t think so. I like Shavkat but to me he doesn’t look as physical as Khamzat. But great fight in the future.” Both Rakhmonov and Chimaev are currently undefeated and will be looking at securing the title in the coming years.

Since the two fighters compete in the same division (welterweight division), it isn’t farfetched that this match will likely take place in the future. With the way the fighters are progressing, there will be no surprises when their paths cross.

Chimaev has had a meteoric rise in the UFC. The Swedish fighter is currently undefeated with a professional record of 11 wins and no losses. Chimaev joined the promotion back in 2020 and took his first fight against John Phillips.
‘Borz’ dominated every minute of the fight and secured the victory in the second round via a D’arce choke. He then fought twice in the same year, knocking out both his opponents in the first round. Chimaev had a phenomenal year and kick-started his journey in the UFC.

The following year, he fought against Li Jingliang. This bout didn’t last long after the Swedish fighter submitted Jingliang via a rear-naked choke in the 1st round. This win catapulted Chimaev’s career and put him on the top contenders’ radar.

Chimaev finally fought a top 5 contender in 2022 as he took on former title contender Gilbert Burns. This was Chimaev’s hardest challenge yet, but he managed to grab the victory after five a back and forth between the two. He won the bout via unanimous decision.
