Legendary fight commentator and boxing trainer, Teddy Atlas has turned into a UFC fan in recent years. Atlas is known for his immense knowledge about the sport of boxing and now avidly partakes in analyzing MMA bouts. In the latest edition of his podcast show, the 65-year-old extended an invitation to a noteworthy lightweight contender to discuss the state of the division.

Former title challenger, Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirer made a special appearance in THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas to talk about his future in the UFC. Poirier has accomplished a lot of things in the 155lbs division and even became its interim champion at one point. However, his rise to the top wasn’t easy and his long arduous journey put him at odds with Michael Chandler.

Chandler didn’t receive a warm welcome from Poirier, but his stardom indeed propelled him to the top fairly soon. At UFC 274, Chandler ensured to pay him back in the same way by calling out all the major fighters, but it did not include him.

Atlas quizzed ‘The Diamond’ about the same and what he truly felt, he answered,” I thought it was. I thought it was. The next day, I Tweeted it out that exact thing. I said,’ he called out everybody, but I didn’t hear my name.”

He added, “I am a dangerous fight for him, I am a clean puncher, accurate, and I think he called out Conor? Conor is a dangerous fight for him, too. I am not saying Chandler is chinny or anything, but he gets hurt in a lot of fights and guys like Conor. You know they can punch.”
