Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the greatest fighters to be a part of MMA. ‘The Eagle’ has an incredible MMA record of (29-0) and has defeated every fighter he has faced. While there is no one who can deny Nurmagomedov’s greatness, there is one fighter many believed could have beaten ‘The Eagle’. That fighter was Tony Ferguson.

Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov were two of the best lightweight fighters in the UFC. However, whenever a fight between the two was set, it could not happen because of various factors. Now as Nurmagomedov is retired and ‘El Cucuy’ has lost his last 3 UFC fights. Nurmagomedov was asked whether he thinks Ferguson can make a comeback and regain his former glory.

Nurmagomedov clearly said that at this age Ferguson should not look to make a comeback. ‘The Eagle’ believed that people close to Ferguson should stop him from competing again. Then, ‘The Eagle’ talked about how they stopped and gave advice to Shamil Abdurakhimov to stop him from competing.

He said, “We were talking such things to Shamil last year and a half. Shamil is not the young man too. It was very hard to persuade him to make the last fight. If we didn’t say anything to him, he could fight till 45. It is not an easy business.”

“Especially when you are not a young man. And fight after the fight, you are getting knocked out. It affects your health. He has more than 10 children. He has to educate them. That’s why you should think about your future, not just about fighting career. You are 40,50,60. How are you going to live after 50? You have to think about the future.”

Can a fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson happen?

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson are arguably two of the best lightweight fighters in UFC history. Both fighters have time and again proven how incredible they are inside the Octagon. However, fans were left wanting, as these two glorious talents never competed in the ring.

And now it seems like a fight between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov will never happen as ‘The Eagle’ is now retired. Therefore, fans can just speculate what would have transpired if these two fighters ever competed inside the Octagon.
