Dan Ige is all set to face Bryce Mitchell after years of anticipation. However, despite losing 2 out of his last 4 fights he is confident that current champion Alex Volkanovski is dominant – but not invincible. While in conversation with the MMA Junkie, Ige asserted that Volkanovski is not an invincible foe. He further added that at the right time and with the right strategy, even a formidable opponent like Volkanovski is beatable.

He stated in the conversation “I think Alex Volkanovski is obviously one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world,” Ige said. “I don’t think about that like he’s unbeatable. He’s 100 percent beatable – he has lost before. I think it was his first fight, and he’s won every (featherweight) one since. But he’s beatable. It’s the right strategy and the right timing.”

Ige further added that this is not his current focus, and when the time comes, he will be the one to dethrone Volkanovski. That’s when he will concentrate on this goal-“Right now, it’s not my time. It’s not my time to be the one to beat him. But when my time does come, that’s something I can focus on. But I never really had the thought like, Man, this guy is not beatable. Right now, it’s not my time. It’s not my time to be the one to beat him. But when my time does come, that’s something I can focus on. But I never really had the thought like.”

He further went on to add that even when he fought against Movsar Evloev, he never thought in this manner. Ige voiced, “Even when I fought Movsar Evloev, he was undefeated, I didn’t have a doubt that I was gonna lose to him. I just thought I had the recipe to beat him.”
