Leon Edwards is set to fight Belal Muhammad this weekend in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card. After Edward’s proposed fight against Khamzat Chimaev failed to materialize multiple times, the UFC was looking to set up a potential clash between the Brit and Colby Covington.

However, according to ‘Rocky’, ‘Chaos’ wanted no part of him, despite being offered the fight. Speaking to James Lynch, Edwards revealed that he wasn’t shocked by Covington’s decision. He believes Covington wants to talk on social media only instead of actually fighting top contenders like him.

I thought he would have stepped up. He talks a lot of shit in social media, when it’s time to fight real fighters he goes running to make excuses

“I wasn’t shocked, really. It’s kind of his character, right? He doesn’t want to fight a top guy and want to sit on the sideline saying he wants a title shot and doesn’t want to work for a title shot. But it is what it is,” said Edwards.

He also added that Covington wants a title shot next instead of fighting him. But ‘Rocky’ added that ‘Chaos’ won’t be getting the shot he is looking for. The UFC tried to push for the fight, but it didn’t happen, and ultimately Muhammad stepped up to the occasion.

Also, Covington refers to Edwards as ‘Leon Scott’. When asked why ‘Chaos‘ does that, Edwards said, “He is a weird man. He is like a weird, weird geezer. I don’t know.”

Will Colby Covington vs Leon Edwards happen somewhere down the road?

Covington and Edwards both sit at the top of the welterweight division. Both fighters are looking for a title shot next. Also, both are expected to win the title at some point in time. One way or another, a potential clash between the duo looks only certain. Covington said Edwards has been inactive for a long time, so he won’t fight him now.

But ultimately, the duo will have to fight, eventually. And considering the complete arsenal of skills of both fighters, it will be fireworks. Although, Edwards has to get past Muhammad this weekend to keep his winning streak active.
