While Deiveson Figueiredo reigns as the UFC flyweight champion, Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France will face each other for the interim UFC flyweight championship at UFC 277. Ahead of their fight, Kai Kara-France spoke about the asset Brandon Moreno has.

Recently, in an interview with veteran MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, Kara-France said, “I think the best thing about Moreno, he is mentally on another level, where he is just kind of hard to break. He is always going to be game. He is always going to be in your face and bring the fight to you and, you know, I like that style. I like when people do that.”

“I like when the fight gets messy and you kind of just show that you want more and I think that’s the difference of me. You know obviously my skills gone better, technique wise, but mentally I just know I am the best and when you are in there, and you know that, you just know it’s going to be your night,” he added.

Moreno, being the fighter he is, made the adjustments. He showed a lot of aggression and started attacking the body of Kai Kara-France. Because of the shots to his body, Kara-France had to lower his guard, which created an opening for Moreno to punch him in the face. This eventually led to Kai Kara-France bleeding.

Towards the end of the fight, Moreno started landing a lot of offense and simply walked Kai Kara-France down, landing the better shots. While Kara-France did not give up, Moreno was the more active fighter and hence he was awarded the unanimous decision of victory by the judges.
