Jon Jones has been teasing a move to heavyweight for a while now. The move was made official when ‘Bones’ relinquished his title at 205 pounds and made it all but certain that he was gunning for the title of the ‘Baddest man on the planet’.

However, there are still a lot of skeptics who believe that he will not actually follow through on the same. This may be due to the fact that ‘Izzy’ is now set to challenge for the light heavyweight belt. Jones and his coaches however remain adamant that heavyweight is where the Albuquerque native will fight next.

Heavyweight Curtis Blaydes, who fights Derrick Lewis in a few weeks, gave his opinion on Jones’ situation.

Curtis Blaydes does not buy that Jon Jones will be at heavyweight for long

Curtis Blaydes recently took part in an interview with Line Movement MMA hosted by James Lynch. James asked Curtis what he made of Jon Jones’ move up to heavyweight and if he saw him staying there.

Blaydes replied, “I think he will do one heavyweight fight, against one guy Stipe. And then win lose or draw, even if he wins, he vacates that belt, and goes back down to light heavyweight. He is not a legitimate heavyweight.”

‘Razor’ welcomed the idea of a potential matchup with Jones. He said, “He’s the potential GOAT. When you get to go up against a potential GOAT, it’s always good for your career”.

However, Curtis stated that he does not see the fight taking place. The heavyweight division is extremely interesting right now. Francis Ngannou has cemented himself as the undisputed number one contender. He will most likely face Stipe Miocic next.

Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis are on a four and three-fight win streak, respectively. The winner of their fight will be next in line after Ngannou without a doubt.

Jones’ introduction to the division spices things up. At this point, it’s not certain if Jones will take a tune-up fight or will be awarded the title shot right away. Dana White has mentioned ‘The Predator’ is next in line; however, the fight has not been confirmed yet.
