The year came with great news for UFC fans who were waiting for the return of UFC superstar Conor McGregor. After suffering a broken leg in July 2021 while fighting against Dustin Poirier, McGregor chose to stay out of the sport. However, he is making his comeback as a coach in the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter. The UFC lightweight champion, Michael Chandler, is coaching against the Irishman in the reality series. The Irish superstars’ appearance helped the PPV event achieve an overwhelming response. McGregor, who loves to stay in the limelight, made it possible once again. Chandler, in a recent interview, was talking about his thoughts on McGregor’s appearance at BKFC 41. Along with that, the former three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion also talked about the retirement of his TUF rival, McGregor. Chandler pointed out the “not true” claim of the Irish superstar.

Conor McGregor claims he is not going to retire

Chandler was talking to Brett Okamoto of ESPN. During the conversation, he detailed McGregor’s thoughts about his retirement. He said, For him, it’s another photo op, another opportunity to make people feel that he’s really really you know saying things like I’m never retiring not to spoil the show but he said that to me on the show too he’s like ‘I’m never retiring I’m gonna be on this game forever’. It’s like we know that’s not true you got to retire.

McGregor faced Dustin Poirier at UFC 261, the ringside doctor stopped the bout after the Irishman suffered a broken leg. The injury was so severe that many believed that he might retire from the sport. However, Chandler has made it clear that McGregor might stay longer in the sport. However, he will have to retire in the future.

He claimed that McGregor might not retire immediately after his next bout. The Notorious is highly passionate about the sport, and his desire to stay in the limelight forces him to stay in the sport.

During the interview, Chandler was highly critical of McGregor’s attitude. ‘Iron’ went on to say how McGregor often forgets that he is a fighter due to his stardom. The UFC lightweight feels that McGregor is more like a celebrity now and behaves like one. Chandler further detailed the Irishman’s need for attention from the people. McGregor loves the admiration that he receives from people, and attending events like BKFC 41 is part of that.
