Not only did Conor McGregor conquer at the UFC, but he also went out and tried his hand at professional boxing. The Notorious took on the greatest boxer of all time, Floyd Mayweather, in an exhibition match.

In the buildup to the fight, none of the fighters had any pleasant words for one another. Conor dissed Mayweather and also trash-talked him the way he usually does to his opponents at the UFC. 

However, from an older interview, Conor McGregor had appeared in the Irishman had words of praise for Floyd Mayweather.

He praised Mayweather for the boxing skills he displayed during his bought against Canelo Alvarez. McGregor said,” I loved that Mayweather- Canelo fight. That was a master class in defense. Do you know what I mean? A lesson in evasive combat, he taught Canelo. He teaches everyone. “

Cut to a few years later, McGregor dissed the professional boxing legend for his skills and stepped inside the ring to take him on in a bout. Both fighters made a lot of money from the fight. The Irishman’s purse was a reported $30 million.

Conor McGregor has been away from fighting after the horrible injury he suffered in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier. The fighter broke his leg and has taken time away to heal and get back to fighting.

Now that months have passed, McGregor has announced his return to the UFC, and has a couple of options in his mind for his return.

The Irishman recently called out the current welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, for his return and said he is confident to walk into the UFC and get a title shot on his return.

Another possible opponent for McGregor is his former rival, Nate Diaz. A trilogy bout between them would be huge for the UFC and will also give their rivalry a decider fight since both have beaten each other once.
