Jorge Masvidal has a reputation for not tolerating any form of disrespect is common knowledge. The BMF title winner has his own methods of dealing with trash talk, which has now become a part of his persona. His attitude has earned him fans and haters alike. Nevertheless, ‘Gamebred’ will treat people to a ‘three-piece and a soda’ if one decides to run their mouth around him.
At least, that’s what his recent response showed.

Masvidal’s disdain for disrespect remains the same, be it on the streets or online. He recently took to social media to share his reaction to ex-UFC middleweight Joe Riggs knocking out an internet troll.
Jorge Masvidal shows no love for internet troll
It should come as no surprise to fans if Jorge Masvidal does not appreciate internet trolls. In a recent Facebook post, the UFC’s ‘Street Jesus’ shared an article about a scrap between former UFC middleweight Joe Riggs and an internet troll.
“He was talking trash for months online and actually showed up to the gym”– commented Masvidal.
The post is linked to an article that describes the altercation between Joe Riggs and an unknown individual who labeled himself ‘the best bare-knuckle boxer in the world’. It mentioned the incident went ‘horribly wrong’.
According to Riggs, who posted a video of the incident on his Instagram, this individual had been talking trash “day after day”. So when he came to the gym, Riggs “wanted to give him a taste of what he was asking for”.
Masvidal himself has dealt with trash talk before. His infamous backstage brawl with current UFC welterweight champion Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards is a prime example of it. Masvidal’s record-setting flying knee knockout of Ben Askren came after Askren had been talking trash all throughout the build-up of the fight.
What’s next for Masvidal?
Jorge Masvidal has not had a win in his last three UFC bouts. Nevertheless, he remains one of those few fighters who have no dearth of options. His five-second K.O. of Ben Askren followed by his BMF fight against Nate Diaz, boosted him to the upper echelons of UFC stardom. Propelled by these wins, Masvidal earned a title shot and was featured on the cover of UFC 4.

However, Gamebred has not been able to get back in the win column after November 2019. He fought Kamaru Usman on short notice for the welterweight title in July 2020 and lost via decision. He faced Usman again in a rematch for the title in April 2021 but got knocked out in the second round.

Masvidal fell short yet again in his grudge match against former teammate Colby Covington at UFC 272. Covington dominated him in the wrestling department for most of the fight. He is currently on a hiatus after vowing to improve his grappling.

Top welterweights Stephen Thompson and Khamzat Chimaev both called out Masvidal. Further, a big-money fight against a returning Conor McGregor is also a possibility, given the massive PPV stardom of both athletes.
