The world has witnessed the link between combat sports and the silver screen multiple times. Starting from fight-based movies to noted combat sports personalities appearing in movies and vice versa, audiences have received significant shocks when they witnessed their beloved movie stars and combat sports personalities stepping into the world of each other.

Along with a number of combat sports personalities like Ronda Rousey, Mike Tyson, and others making their silver screen appearances. Hollywood also has actors like Michael Jai White and Chuck Norris with awesome combat sports capabilities. But there’s probably no more noted name than Tom Hardy if we talk about such individuals.

The ‘Venom’ movie star has been into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for quite some time now. A few months back, Hardy also won a BJJ contest, defeating his final opponent named Gavin Marsh. But, when accolades in martial arts come into play, Hardy gets left behind by a few other actors. However, ‘The UK native’s’ coach recently revealed his pleasure after Hardy moved one step closer to achieving a black belt.

At the time when he won the BJJ competition, the 45-year-old could be seen sporting a blue belt. Hence, upgrading his BJJ belt to purple in such a short amount of time, i.e. a few months, may be taken as his commendable prowess in the sport.

Hardy’s development in his game was also apparent from his coach, Carlos Santos’s endearing words for him. In an interview with ‘MMA fighting’, Santos recently stated, He will never stop doing jiu-jitsu anymore. Jiu-jitsu is in his blood, in his soul, in his heart”. It’s pertinent to note that Santos was even more appreciative of Hardy’s dedication than his achievement of a purple belt.

He also detailed how Hardy wants to enjoy the art like a normal person”. Further, he also said, He always does group classes too. I admire that about him. Famous people usually want private classes”.

Maybe these are the factors that make Hardy different due to which he has been able to achieve such commendable accolades in BJJ.

There are noted actors with even more martial arts accolades than Tom Hardy

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ actor boasts commendable achievements in martial arts. However, he still isn’t the one with the highest order of accolades in the industry. There are a number of other noteble silver-screen personalities like Michael Jai White, who would belittle even Hardy with their achievements. Jai White is a legit martial artist boasting multiple belts in multiple forms of martial arts.

The noted UFC color commentator and actor, Joe Rogan, may also boast a higher accolade than Hardy with a black belt in the discipline. A few other actors like Ashton Kutcher and Dave Bautista, who is also a noted WWE star, leave Hardy behind with brown belts in BJJ.
