The idea of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson coaching The Ultimate Fighter against each other surfaced on the internet when ‘El Cucuy’ proposed ‘The Eagle’ that he could fulfill his father’s wish of them competing against each other. Now, Nurmagomedov’s coach has offered that the Dagestan-born fighter went to talk to Dana White about it.

In an interview with the Australian show, Submission Radio, AKA head coach, Javier Méndez, revealed what Nurmagomedov planned for his meeting with UFC President Dana White.

Coach Mendez said, “He brought something up, I forgot all about it because Khabib was excited… He said he would like to talk to Dana when he was in Vegas and I don’t know if he did talk to Dana or not, you know.”

“But yeah, Khabib 100% was interested, and I’d be interested. I think it would be fun, you know, and I think the fans would be interested. I think they would tune in, you know. Yeah, I think it would be great.”

Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were slated to fight five times in their UFC career, but each time there were some issues and their match got canceled. Both fighters pulled out of the fights on a couple of occasions and in their final agreement, the world saw a big hurdle in 2020.

Thus, this fight was labeled as a doomed fight in MMA space by the fans and even UFC President Dana White.

Is Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov TUF season realistic?

Ferguson and Nurmagomedov are two of the biggest lightweight stars in history, both in terms of popularity and stats inside the Octagon. Thus, fans would take any opportunity to see these two go at each other.

Should the UFC book these two against each other in a TUF season, the sheer banter the two would deliver would be an epic treat for the fight fans. Chiefly, when they waited for the better part of the last decade to see this matchup.
