“He’ll Drop Out Anyways”: Following a Surprising Update on His Return, Conor McGregor’s Friend Dillon Danis Faces Brutal Trolling From Fans

Dillon Danis getting trolled doesn’t come as surprising news to MMA fans anymore. The 29-year-old, who made his name as a grappler and also as a trainer and friend to former UFC double champ Conor McGregor, has often found himself in the crosshairs of fans owing to his controversial personality.

Danis, who hasn’t been active professionally since his fight at Bellator back in 2019, recently surprised fans with a piece of unexpected news. Addressing his return to combat sports, a post by UK-based promotion, Polaris announced the expected timeline for Danis to finally step back into the mats. Following this update, fans came out, and not surprisingly, brutally trolled the 29-year-old, claiming that he would pull out once again just like he did before his boxing bout that was set to take place with a certain influencer.

As per the post made by ‘Polaris Professional Jiu Jitsu’ on Instagram, ‘El Jefe’ is expected to finally step back into competitive grappling sometime later this year. Although there are no reports on who he would be facing, this piece of news in itself came as a massive surprise.

“Dillon Danis is aiming to make his highly anticipated return to grappling in 2023 with Polaris.” read the Instagram post.

Although Danis has teased a return multiple times over the past few years, this update from the promotion itself could mean that the American will finally be making his comeback. Following this report, Danis was once again subjected to trolling in the comment section of the post as fans thrashed him, claiming that he would eventually pull out.

Along with announcing his return, the Instagram post also posed a question for its followers regarding his next opponent. Responding to this, the majority of the fans gave came up with hilarious references as they took digs at Danis.

A couple of comments talked about Danis getting choked out by security some time back proposing the same individual as his next opponent.

“The security guard who choked him out”

“The bouncer”

Someone even volunteered to fight him for a mere $20 and a dinner.

“i’ll do it for $20 and a steak dinner”

Many felt that Danis would eventually pull out of the fight, with some even claiming that his fight didn’t really matter to anyone.

“It doesn’t matter; he’ll drop out anyways”

“Someone else who hasn’t been relevant since 2016”

“I would like to see the backup grappler that will inevitably step in when Danis pulls out week of the match.”

While it’s not surprising to see him face the ire of combat fans, Dillon Danis could use this comeback as an opportunity to fight his way back into relevancy. Maybe down the line, he could even make a return to the MMA cage if everything works out as planned.
