Henry Cejudo Receives a Three Word Warning From Sean O’Malley Ahead of His Fight Against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288

The second-ranked bantamweight fighter, Sean O’Malley, sends a message to Henry Cejudo ahead of his bout at UFC 288. Cejudo is a former UFC two-division champion who has earned belts in both the flyweight and bantamweight divisions. At the moment, he is all set to come back to the octagon after a long wait. ‘Triple C’ will fight against the current bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, on May 6th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Cejudo retired from the sport in May 2020 and has not fought since then. He later changed his mind and wanted to fight again for the title. His last bout at the UFC Octagon was against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. He was able to achieve a glorious victory in the bout via TKO in the second round. He retired from MMA when he was on a six-fight winning streak. At the moment, it is believed that the winner between ‘Funk Master’ and ‘The Messenger’ will fight against ‘Sugar’ next.

Sean O’Malley and Henry Cejudo are longtime rivals. Now, ‘Sugar’ took to his social media handle to warn Cejudo. He tweeted, “I Ko Henry.O’Malley is indeed one of the top fighters in the bantamweight division. He is confident that in the near future, he will be able to knock out the former two-division champion.

O’Malley’s last bout at the UFC was against the former bantamweight champion, Petr Yan. ‘Sugar’ became successful in emerging victorious against Yan in the third round via a split decision. O’Malley is currently on a winning streak, with a no-contest in between. Meanwhile, bantamweight champion Sterling now stands at the peak of his career.

His last bout was against the former bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw. He successfully retained his belt three minutes and forty-four seconds into the second round via TKO. Aljamain currently has an eight-fight winning streak and is training hard to defend his title once again.

Sean O’Malley: Not going to be a backup

Earlier, some reports stated that Sean O’Malley would serve as backup for the bout between Sterling and Cejudo. However, in the TimboSugarShow, O’Malley made it clear that he wouldn’t serve as a backup at UFC 288. He said, as per ‘MMA Fighting’, “I was really planning on being backup for Henry-Aljo,” ‘Sugar’ said, “Now we’re at the point where it is so — go and doing a camp, five five-[minute rounds]. Planning on a fight is hard enough to do knowing you have a fight, but knowing you’re probably not going to fight, I can’t train the same way.

From the words of O’Malley, it is understood that he is not going to be a backup at UFC 288. However, the fans need to wait longer to find out who O’Malley will fight next.
