Henry Cejudo retired on top after defending his bantamweight title at UFC 249 against Dominick Cruz. A few months before that, he had even vacated his flyweight belt. Hence, one can safely say that ‘The Messenger’ was never beaten as a UFC champion.

Even though he is a fighter with such massive accolades, it seems like Dana White isn’t keen on letting him jump the queue to a title fight in another division. The UFC President even called it a silly conversation.

The former champion has fired back at the UFC’s head honcho for blocking his attempts. In his tweet, he also took sublime shots at UFC’s biggest star Conor McGregor and former UFC fighter, Paige VanZant.
Dana, I needed a break. Honestly, it was getting boring beating up TJ Pillashaw in under a minute and Dominick Snooze in 2. I got married, had a kid and am now rejuvenated. I wanna be 4C. If I beat up an old guy at a bar and learn how to Riverdance will you give me a shot? https://t.co/xdfPUZxwDM

Despite his efforts, it doesn’t seem as though White will be swayed.

Will Henry Cejudo fight for the UFC featherweight title in 2022?
The way things have played out, it doesn’t seem like Cejudo will get his wishes as all his requests have fallen on deaf ears. Despite his repeated attempts to attack the featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, the promotion is simply not keen on booking this fight.

Cejudo hasn’t tested himself in the featherweight division and has merely flirted with the idea. Meanwhile, there are top-5 names like Yair Rodriguez, and Calvin Kattar, who are gunning for a title shot and have been active ever since ‘Triple C’ called it a day.

Hence, it appears Cejudo needs to show the promotion that he is “rejuvenated” by taking non-title fights and earning a featherweight title fight. Even if he does so, a 2022 title fight seems unlikely. What do you think?
