Former 205lbs champion Jiri Prochazka wants one thing more than the division gold—a trilogy bout with god-king Alex Pereira! At UFC 311, ‘The Czech Samurai’ got back to his winning ways, slaying Jamahal Hill in the third round in an absolute war. Following the victory, Jiri called out the Brazilian juggernaut, exclaiming, “F–k man – I want a third fight with Alex Pereira,” while speaking to Joe Rogan in the post-fight interview.

Meanwhile, Pereira was present cage-side for the event and appreciated Prochazka’s performance. ‘Poatan’, who is set to defend his title against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 in Las Vegas, also expressed interest in facing Jiri, saying, “If everything goes good, we are going to give Jiri this opportunity.” After the event, Prochazka joined ESPN’s Megan Olivi and further clarified his intentions.

He stated that he only wants a fight with Pereira, regardless of whether Pereira retains the title after his matchup with Ankalaev. Jiri emphasized, “If he [Alex] wins, it doesn’t matter to me. For me, it doesn’t matter if he wins or loses. Like I said, I want to show my improvements. My style is my focus. I want to win decisively and show the world that in the first fight, I almost got him, and the second fight, for me, was really ridiculous. I was in a really bad place.”

Prochazka and Pereira have squared off twice: first in 2023 at UFC 295 followed by a rematch at UFC 303. The encounters ended in infamy for the former champion as he was put to sleep decisively on both occasions. As the prospect of a trilogy looms, the 32-year-old may not completely avenge his losses to the 205lbs kingpin, but a single win could offer the mental satisfaction he’s been craving.

Dana White’s take on the Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka trilogy

Dana White is unlikely to turn down any fight involving Alex Pereira, who has recently become a key figure in the UFC boss’s multibillion-dollar promotion. With Conor McGregor no longer in the spotlight, many have called the Brazilian the face of the UFC. And rightly so! He has taken on the responsibility of carrying the UFC’s underwhelming cards and also saving the fleeting ones on more than one occasion.

White welcomed the potential trilogy showdown between the two strikers, a match sure to draw attention from fans. However, Dana White wants to see how things play out and asked fans to “wait and see” until after UFC 313 on March 8. For the unversed, Pereira will finally face Ankalaev in a long-awaited title bout. White commented, “I don’t know, we’ve got to see how it will play out with Alex now, I doubt [that] people don’t want to see this fight again, so we’ll see how it plays out.”
