Conor McGregor is infamous for his rivalries against other fighters, however, there’s another side to the mystic mac, who is very affectionate and caring.

Not just towards his family, but also towards other fighters. McGregor is very specific when it comes to choosing friends from the MMA community, and Yoel Romero is definitely one of them.

Meanwhile, the Bellator fighter shares similar sentiments for McGregor as well. They are very respectful towards each other. Furthermore, the Cuban even revealed in a recent presser that McGregor took care of everything while he was in Ireland for his upcoming fight. 

Yoel Romero compliments Conor McGregor for being a great host.

Romero revealed that McGregor offered him cars, a gym to train at, a restaurant, etc. The former UFC middleweight said, “I want to say thank you to Conor. He’s been looking after me while here in Ireland, and everything he’s done for me. He’s kind of given me heads up and kind of given me everything that’s needed to be here.”

Romero jokingly said that after he was done with the fight, he would visit McGregor’s restaurant. The statement made the room burst into laughter.

Bellator has set Yoel Romero to face Melvin Manhoef at their event in Dublin, Ireland. The ‘soldier of God’ is coming off of a last-second buzzer-beater victory against Alex Polizzi. However, for the entirety of the fight, Romero toyed with his opponent and scored multiple knockdowns against him.

McGregor takes inspiration from ‘the soldier of God’

McGregor displayed his respect towards the Cuban in a tweet that saw a clip from Romero’s fight against Paulo Costa. The Notorious dissected the current Light-heavyweight’s fighting style, specifically his dynamic striking.

McGregor even said that he’s taking inspiration from Romero’s style of fighting. Moreover, he might as well implement it in his game plan as well.

McGregor said in his tweet, “The craftiness of Yoel has always been incredible to watch! I am modeling the second half of my career off of this mad Cubano. @YoelRomeroMMA. Excited for the fights this evening.”

McGregor has dropped several hints through his sparring footage and clips that he’s implementing a new game plan for his in-ring return. Furthermore, fans have also noticed glimpses of his old style of fighting, which involved a lot of kicks. For now, fans are patiently waiting for him to announce his return.
