Jon Jones has moved up to the heavyweight division. Already considered the greatest martial artist of all time by the likes of Joe Rogan and Dominick Cruz, he has moved up to the heavyweight division to cement his legacy and remove all doubts about his GOAT status.

To do this, he took on Ciryl Gane in his heavyweight debut for the vacant title and dealt with him effortlessly in the first round. And now, he is taking on the person considered the greatest UFC heavyweight Stipe Miocic. And Daniel Cormier, who has faced both men on multiple occasions, revealed how Miocic could use size to his advantage in beating Jones.

Daniel Cormier reveals how Stipe Miocic can defeat the HW champion with his size

On his YouTube channel, former UFC two-division champion Daniel Cormier discussed the upcoming Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic showdown at UFC 295 on November 12 for the 265-pound crown. ‘DC’ stated that when Miocic lost to Francis Ngannou in their second fight, the former champion was a whopping 30 pounds lighter than the Cameroonian. However, now, in the lead-up to the Jon Jones fight, the firefighter is in the mid-240s and looks huge. But, he was not sure whether it would be enough to help Miocic win against Jones.

“When Miocic lost to Francis and God knows he weighed 234 pounds, Francis weighed 265. You got a 30-pound disadvantage, I think. The best Miocic is in the mid-240s and he’s saying now that he’s back around that weight… He’s never looked better. He looks huge, he looks big, he looks strong. Now is that going to be enough? I don’t know,” he said.

DC warns fans to expect the best version of Miocic against Jon Jones

The New Orleans native added that at his current size, Miocic would be the best version of himself as he was in his title run, and his size would help against ‘Bones’. “Expect this Stipe Miocic from the title run as opposed to the guy we saw later, the small guy the skinny guy, remember?” ‘DC’ told the audience. “…When fighting Jon Jones, being heavier will serve Miocic well,” he added.

During the video, he also got a text from Miocic confirming that he was 245. “I’m getting a text message from Stipe Miocic right now. He said I’m at the eye doctor, doing his exam; he’s 245. 245. I hope all is well. That’s from the champ himself,” he said.

Jon Jones has everything to lose if he loses against Miocic. Conversely, Miocic has very little to lose if he gets trounced by Jones, as he would be losing to arguably the best MMA fighter of all time. But, the fight that almost all MMA fans want to see, and which would really establish him as the GOAT, is a victory against lineal UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Let us hope the PFL (Ngannou’s promotion) and the UFC can somehow make it happen. If they don’t, it might be the biggest what-ifs in MMA history. What a shame that would be.
