‘He’s Not a Scholar He’s Not an Imam’- Miftaah Scholar Explains Why Khabib Nurmagomedov Will Join Their Global Community

Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the most respected fighters in the history of mixed martial arts. The Russian has achieved a great deal in his career and has proven himself as one of the best fighters in the world.

Nurmagomedov is a man of principle and a devout follower of Islam. Recently, Khabib was invited to the prestigious global institute of Miftaah.

Miftaah is an institute that provides a source of information to individuals from all walks of life. Their objective is to assist in the preservation of the Prophet’s practice.

A Miftaah scholar explained why they are having the UFC legend on board with them, even though he is not an Imam.

The Scholar explained,” “Why is Miftaah hosting Khabib Nurmagomedov? What is the purpose behind it? He’s not a scholar, he’s not an imam. He’s not an instructor, so what’s the objective? When your brothers and sisters throughout different generations and eras they have individuals that have been able to inspire people towards becoming better Muslims.”

“We are excited to host khabib not because simply of his career and him being 29 and 0. Or us just being fans. But also because we do hope to inspire people and inspire ourselves to become better Muslims, humans, and how we can put Allah at the forefront of our decisions. How we can learn from his career, learn from his ups and downs, and hopefully allow our lives to, at some extent, embody the lives of those that are pleased with Allah.”

Why did Khabib Nurmagomedov retire?

Khabib retired after he defended his title for the third time against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on the 24th of October, 2020. He retired with a perfect record of 29-0. The fighter announced his retirement after the unfortunate death of his father.

Nurmagomedov promised his mother that he would not fight without his father behind him. He has kept true to his word to date and has not returned to fighting. Dana White has tried to get him to come back to the UFC many times, but it has not done any good.
