One of the biggest grudge matches in the UFC (Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal) will take place at UFC 272. They were close friends in the past. However, their friendship has turned into one of the most vicious rivalries in UFC history.

Colby Covington issued a fierce warning to his ex-friend Jorge Masvidal ahead of their bout. He appeared at the weigh-in live show of UFC 270, where he talked about the animosity with his opponent.

He said, “So I won’t use anything in the fight. You know there’s no emotions when I step inside that octagon. It’s all business, you know. It’s all serious focus and game plan, you know.”

“I am not gonna throw my game plan out of the window. I am gonna go out there and fight how I fight. And March 5th, you know. Jorge is in for a rude awakening.”

“He’s not gonna be the same person after I am finished with him. And no matter how much the UFC pays him on March 5th when he wakes up in a hospital bed, all that money won’t be worth it.”

Both Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal have two losses against Kamaru Usman

Kamaru Usman, the reigning UFC welterweight champion, has defeated both Covington and Masvidal twice. ‘Chaos’ first faced the champion at UFC 245. Even though the Californian gave a tough fight, he couldn’t last long in the fifth round and got knocked out with a vicious punch.

‘Chaos’ bagged a win in his next fight to earn a title rematch against the Nigerian. Unfortunately, he lost the fight via unanimous decision at UFC 268.

Meanwhile, ‘Gamebred’ earned his first-ever UFC title shot with a three-fight undefeated streak. He met ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ at UFC 251 only to lose via a unanimous decision. Later, in the much-anticipated rematch at UFC 261, the champion won in the second round.

Both the welterweight combatants, ‘Chaos’ and ‘Gamebred’, have a chance to map their way back to the title as they go head to head in March.

If ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ still sits at the top of the division, the winner of Covington vs Masvidal will have a chance to fight him in a blockbuster trilogy.
