Max Holloway put on one of the best performances in UFC history as he demolished Calvin Kattar over the course of 5 rounds last weekend. The former featherweight champion earned a lopsided decision. Undoubtedly, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was more than impressed by the Hawaiian’s excellent win.

Nurmagomedov was scheduled to fight Holloway at UFC 223 for the lightweight belt after the former’s original opponent, Tony Ferguson pulled out. But Holloway was deemed medically unfit on weigh-in day and couldn’t step to the Octagon against the undefeated Dagestani.

Recently, in an interview with Full Reptile, Nurmagomedov showed his appreciation for Holloway.

I think about Max, he is already one of the best who ever compete in MMA. You know, he’s one of the best, and maybe probably he is best featherweight of all time. And it was like I think it was his best performance. You know? And when we look at max he’s not old, you know? But he have a lot of fighting but how old 28,29 Yeah, and I think his prime time is coming he’s not coming yet I think maybe this year or maybe next year is gonna be is prime time,” said the undefeated champion.

Like about best boxer. I don’t know. But he is one of the best for sure. And his cardio. I think he had very good cardio. Very good chin. And now he’s experienced every fights coming. And I think his time is gonna come,” he added.

Max Holloway is looking for another shot at the title

Holloway wants to regain his throne. He has made his intentions very clear since his controversial decision loss to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 251. Volkanovski will fight Brian Ortega at UFC 260, and Holloway is expected to fight the winner of that fight next.

Many doubted Holloway after his second loss to the champion. But he looked sharper than ever against Kattar and turned those doubts into plaudits. He put the rest of the division on notice, as there’s a whole new version of the former champion that seems to be looming.
