Surging UFC bantamweight contender, Ricky Simón made a statement on the final card of 2021. The 29-year-old fighter earned his chance via Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Séries in 2017. Ever since, he has managed to pick up  8 wins, including his latest dominant performance against a formidable fighter in Raphael Assunção.

Ricky’s exchange with former middleweight champion, Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping following his win, rubbed him the wrong way.

Bisping was a part of the commentary and production team for the final card of the promotion. Following Ricky’s win, Bisping conducted his octagon interview and quizzed him about his thoughts on beating his first ranked opponent. This is where Ricky said that he already had victories over ranked opponents, which definitely created an awkward moment.

Michael Bisping does not take such behavior lightly

If there is one thing that anyone needs to know about MMA is to never get on any former or retired champion’s bad side. Things will most certainly go haywire and you will invite more trouble than you handle. It looks like Ricky has just made that crucial mistake with the former middleweight champion.

According to a report by BJ Penn, Michael has offered a response to Ricky and shed light on the weird interaction.

He said, ” He goes ‘I’ve beaten ranked guys before’. I said, well you definitely weren’t ranked, because he wasn’t ranked. There’s absolutely no need for him to… He’s trying to make me look silly.”

He continued, “Trying to make me look silly and I’m literally relaying the information I was told to say. So how about you direct your venom at him and not to be such a little s**t. How about that?”
