Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier took to social media and shared a hilarious video grab from earlier in the year. Chiefly, Cormier is one-third of the UFC pay-per-view commentary team alongside Joe Rogan and Jon Anik. The three have produced several iconic moments throughout their time together and it seems as though there are many more to come.
The video in question sees Rogan share his views on eye-pokes in MMA and how they end up impacting a fight. What’s more, Rogan went on record saying that eye-pokes should lead to an immediate point deduction due to the hefty implications they come with. Daniel Cormier’s live reaction during Rogan’s passionate monologue is truly a memorable moment from 2020.
This was another one of my moments behind the desk. Look at my face when @joerogan starts to talk eye pokes and taking a point away. Jeez @jon_anik #sheesh pic.twitter.com/5t6Ieuy8Ds

‘DC’ is no stranger to eye-pokes as the latter portion of his championship run came in littered with the same. Cormier had a trilogy series with Stipe Miocic wherein there were accusations of sending out intentional eye-pokes by some fans. Furthermore, his retirement fight against Miocic at UFC 252 played out in an ironic manner as Miocic altered the bout with a nasty eye-poke.
Daniel Cormier’s strained history with ‘unconventional tactics’
The infamous eye-pokes saga with Stipe Miocic isn’t the first time Cormier has been accused of unsavory tactics. The future Hall of Famer also has the infamous ‘Towel-gate’ against Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson attached to his name. Fans put Cormier on blast after he appeared to grab the towel at weigh-ins to alleviate some amount of excess weight.

The aforementioned situation was magnified significantly when Anthony Johnson and his team began seeking damages from the commission. Cormier’s impressive RNC submission win meant the situation was swept under the rug. However, fans can’t help but look back at some rather quaint instances that seemed to plague Daniel Cormier’s professional career.
Despite the trials within the latter half of his career, ‘DC’ remains one of the most endearing figures in MMA. Any and all backlash by fans from his fighting days have been more or less forgotten. Cormier has moved into a role of broadcasting and commentating and he’s embraced the new phase of his life.
