After leaving the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Yoel Romero will make his Bellator debut this Saturday. The ‘Soldier of God’, will take on former UFC fighter Phil Davis inside the octagon.

Moreover, this fight will serve as a headliner for the Bellator 266 event, which will take place at SAP Center in San Jose, California. Recently, both the fighters arrived for the pre-fight interview for the event.

Surprisingly, Romero was wearing something out of the box. On being asked about his funny pink shoes, the 44-year-old revealed a touching story behind them. His daughter forced him to wear the shoes she gifted him.

While describing his daughter’s words, Romero said, “Hey no, no, take it and go with these shoes. Whatever you will do, I want to see you in these shoes.” 

Romero is one of the hardest hitters in combat sports. However, the 44-year-old shares a very emotional bond with his daughter. A complete fighter inside the octagon, Yoel Romero is a loving and humble father as well.

Furthermore, the ‘Soldier of God’ is no longer a part of the UFC. However, he surely dominated his time in the promotion as a top middleweight contender.

Yoel Romero: A Brief Look back at His UFC Career

Yoel Romero had only one loss in his professional fighting career when he made his UFC debut. Romero went on winning back-to-back fights after his debut. He defeated many prominent names in the division, such as Derek Brunson and Chris Weidman.

The ‘Soldier of God’ is a skilled finisher with seven out of his thirteen wins coming via knockout. The Cuban national was on an eight-fight win streak when he earned his first interim middleweight title shot. However, he later went on to lose to Robert Whittaker at UFC 213.

Romero quickly bounced back from the loss and won an interim title bout against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221. Later, the (13-5) record holder faced a rough time and lost two bouts in a row.

Riding on a two-fight skid, Romero faced Israel Adesanya for UFC gold. However, he faced the same fate as his last two bouts. Now ‘The Soldier of God’ has parted way with the UFC and will make his Bellator debut this Saturday. It will excite his fans to see how he performs in the new promotion.
