Daniel Cormier has come under fire from UFC fans for his commentary on Umar Nurmagomedov’s fight against Bekzat Almakhan at UFC Vegas 87. The Dagestani fighter remained undefeated as he secured a win against the promotional newcomer, Almakhan, at the event. However, the first round of the fight saw him get rocked by a hard shot from Almakhan.

But Nurmagomedov maintained his composure and dove for a takedown in his compromised state. He managed to secure it and halt the onslaught from the Kazakhstani prospect. This drew high praise from Cormier on commentary. However, the MMA fandom online didn’t agree with his perceived ‘bias’ towards the Dagestani fighter.

As such, in a post on Instagram, the Fight Wave account stated, “Daniel Cormier isn’t even hiding his clear favoritism on the mic for Nurmagomedov at times. Kept insisting to show the takedown after Umar got rocked BAAAD in R1.”

In the caption, they explained that Cormier displayed his bias by completely ignoring the massive knockdown score by Almakhan. It said, “Umar gets a takedown right off getting rocked and DC is completely ignoring the fact that Bezkat just knocked him down. Insane Bias. This isn’t even the first time and it won’t be the last. Something needs to be done with commentators showing a clear bias to one side instead of reporting what’s in front of them.”

This led to the fans flooding the comment section to highlight their displeasure with the commentary. The aftermath sparked responses indicating the fandom  did not enjoy the “bias” on display.

Others took a harsher approach to ‘DC’s mic skills despite them liking him as a person when he’s not commentating on fights:

“DC is the worst commentator in the UFC, he’s a good guy but i can’t stand him on the mic.”

Some also pointed out that it’s not just Cormier who’s guilty of biased commentary. They named Michael Bisping’s preference for British fighters:

“Just like BISPING does with every English fighter”

Fans also took note of Joe Rogan’s commentary on the Ian Garry vs Geoff Neal fight. They claimed that it was “the most biased” performance they’ve ever heard:

“@joerogan on the garry/neal fight was one of the most biased I’ve ever heard as well”

But some fans came out in defense of the MMA legend by pointing out that Nurmagomedov displayed a “high-level” wrestling performance that caught Cormier’s attention:

Others pointed out that it takes a lot of skill to recover from fatal damage. And that is what led to Daniel Cormier’s perceived “bias” on commentary:

To be able to get a takedown like that after a brutal knockdown is simply gorgeous and we don’t see it that much, that’s why basically. Not bias nor nothing y’all are mad af.
