Sean Strickland is going off like a wildfire. In that, he’s taking everyone he can take down in one day of press. Not only did he verbally thrash his upcoming opponent Dricus Du Plessis but he also took shots at Colby Covington for his most recent comments on Leon Edwards‘ father.

Recently, Covington went a little too low to try and get under his opponent’s skin by bringing up ‘Rocky’s’ father. Edwards’ father had passed away when he was very young age. And so finally, the ice in the champ’s veins broke and he hurled a bottle at ‘Chaos’ finally giving him the reaction he wanted all along. Was this a good move? Here are Strickland’s thoughts.

Sean Strickland on Covington’s comments

Sean Strickland went no-holds-barred with everything he said during the recent conversation. From accusing Du Plessis of being involved with his trainer to calling out Sean O’Malley’s relationship with his wife. However, the middleweight champion draws a line at parents. And he was not okay with Covington’s comments earlier this week.

“Let me give you some facts on Colby,” Strickland Said. “Colby is an utter piece of sh*t, let me explain what Colby is. If you know Colby on a personal level, he f*cked over everybody he f*cking knows . . . and him making fun of Leon’s dad, that is the biggest f*cking c*nt move you can do. Dad bad guy, good guy, doesn’t f*cking matter, she (Leon’s mother) raised the boy to be a f*cking man.”

There seems to be a lot of respect in Strickland’s heart for Edwards’ parents. The question is, would he have behaved the same way if ‘Rocky’ was his opponent instead? There is no way to tell. Strickland has been outspoken just about every single opportunity he got.

In fact, in the very same press conference, he accused Du Plessis of being involved with his coach in a way that is far from professional. Clearly, his no holds barred nature has affected fighters and their mental health. But the very same could be said for Colby Covington.

What was it that Covington said?

Colby Covington doesn’t seem to have boundaries when it comes to trash talking. Leon Edwards’ father was shot and murdered in at a London nightclub when ‘Rocky’ was merely 13. So when Covington implied that his father was in “hell”, perhaps it was just a bit too much.

While Edwards tossed a water bottle at him, fans online tossed his character around. It’s clear to any observant fan that Covington puts on a persona for the UFC. However, fans wonder if that justifies bringing up relatives, especially parents that have passed away in a negative light. What is your opinion about the situation? Let us know in the comments.
