Ronda Rousey is a well-known athlete and was the face of women’s MMA at one point. She drew attention to the UFC women’s bantamweight division when it initially started. Rousey is most remembered for her iconic bout against Holly Holm. Let us look back at Holm’s response to her “suicidal thoughts” after their bout.

Holly Holm appeared on the “The Real” show after her historic bout against Rousey, which burst her into stardom. One of the hosts asked Holm what her thoughts were on Rousey after ‘Rowdy’ admitted to having “suicidal thoughts” following their bout. Holm replied, “I know that for me whenever I’ve been kind of down the last person that I really want to be giving me, consoling me as a person, that maybe did it, its kind of like ‘Leave me alone.'”

She also explained how she didn’t like it herself. Holm said, “I don’t take that lightly when anybody says anything like that, so I would always want best for them.” She ended by saying a few kind words for her rival. Holm said, “I feel like the best thing to do is surround yourself by people that support you.”

This historic UFC bout took the world by storm. Going into the fight, Holm was the clear underdog, as Rousey looked unstoppable at the time. The first round started with both fighters trading blow for blow.

Rousey threw a few good strikes but couldn’t keep up with the pace of Holm. Holm’s superior striking skills managed to deal a good amount of damage to Rousey.

Fans were surprised that Rousey didn’t use her elite judo skills nor try to turn the fight into a wrestling match. Rousey instead chose to box with a very dangerous kickboxer. The fight’s second round shocked the fans as Holm knocked out Rousey with a perfectly timed head kick.

With this huge win, Holm secured the women’s bantamweight championship. Unfortunately for her, she failed to defend her title in the very next fight and lost the belt to the likes of top contender Miesha Tate.
