Did we just witness a complete massacre at UFC Mexico? The Drew Dober vs. Manuel Torres showdown was pure pandemonium from the Mexican warrior. Both fighters came in strong, but Torres clearly understood the assignment, securing a dominant, knockout victory against Dober— all within the very first round, in front of a roaring home crowd. But wait, the win didn’t come without controversy. Despite Torres’s impressive performance, the MMA community has launched a full-scale attack on the referee. The question is — why? Let’s dive into the chaos.

Watch What’s Trending Now!

As he touched gloves with Drew Dober, Torres knew what he had to do. He wasted no time before launching a front kick to Dober’s body, shaking his will completely. The Denver, Colorado fighter confidently took center stage after the kick; however, ‘El Loco’ continued his barrage of strikes, unleashing a sharp one-two combination followed by a powerful body kick.

Without any hesitation on his mind, the Mexican fighter threw a head kick as soon as he got the opportunity, followed by a lightning-fast one-two that sent Dober crashing to the canvas. As Torres sensed a finish, he charged forward as Dober became desperate to keep his composure. Soon after the leg kicks, ‘El Loco’ rained down a barrage of strikes, which forced the referee to intervene, waving off the fight.

So, why was this fight controversial? The referee should have intervened much earlier, as Torres landed several unnecessary shots to the side of Dober’s head that could have severely damaged the American star. It seemed like he was trying to initiate a wrestling offense, which is why the referee may have waited before eventually stepping in.

But when they were separated, Dober still had his hands up, ready to continue. No, it was not grit. He simply was unaware of what had just happened and looked confused when it was explained to him. Clearly, he looked out of it.

As the match concluded, the Denver, Colorado fighter conceded his third back-to-back defeat and the MMA community took to their X handle to react to what they had just seen.

Fans react as Drew Dobber nearly gets his lights shut at UFC Mexico

A social media user initially expressed that the referee should have stopped the fight much earlier, as Dober had to endure multiple unwarranted shots to the back of his head: “HORRIBLE STOPPAGE by Mike Beltran. What the hell? 15 unanswered shots Drew Dober took from Manuel Torres. #UFCMexico.”

Furthermore, undisputed welterweight champion Belal Muhammad witnessed the fight back home, and as Torres finished the fight in the very first round, he took to his X handle to add a comment: “Torres is so explosive.” It’s true that ‘El Loco’ is an explosive fighter as he has finished 94 % of his fights.

Moreover, another fan was flabbergasted by the fight, “OH MY GOD #UFCMexico.” Former UFC lightweight challenger Renato Moicano took to his X handle to have his own fine-tuned tweet. He referenced ‘Drago’s infamous lines from ‘Rocky IV,’ writing, “Wtf if he dies he dies!!!! The good old coliseum #ufc.”

Last but not least, another fan has called out the referee for failing to fulfill his duty.“That was brutal, but man Mike Beltran WTF was that? #UFCMexico.”

With the conclusion of the fight, Drew Dober might have to contemplate what’s next. He’s not getting any younger and the lightweight division is as unforgiving as it gets. Given that, what are your thoughts on the fight? State your opinion in the comments below.
