“He’s woeful. I want to fight him.” As Michael Chandler focuses on his preparation for his fight against Charles Oliveira, Conor McGregor seemed to be keeping his options open for a comeback after challenging welterweight champion Belal Muhammad on September 28. The shout out caught the entire MMA community off-guard, especially after the UFC snubbed ‘Notorious’ following his UFC 303 fiasco. Despite the former dual-weight champion making headlines with his latest challenge to ‘Remember The Name,’ it seems Dana White has also been caught in the crossfire.

Conor McGregor vs. Belal Muhammad is now an option for Dana White

When a curious fan asked Conor McGregor about his honest opinion on Belal Muhammad during a recent live stream hosted by online gambling site Duelbits, the Irishman asserted that Muhammad is lamentable, “He’s woeful. I want to fight him. Okay, Chandler is next. Belal vs. McGregor, UFC welterweight world title fight on the line. I have multiple knockouts at 170.”

He further added, “I’m a force to be reckoned with at 170. I do damage at 170. Check the stats. One hundred percent accuracy! This man hasn’t even got a knockdown in UFC history. Not one knockdown. It’s embarrassing, to be honest. Kind of slow-rolling a person because you just don’t give a bollocks. They’re all bums.” Muhammad currently has a 24-3-0 record (1 NC), whereas McGregor sits at 22-6-0, which seems to give ‘Remember the name’ statistically, though fans might disagree.

The fighter  took cognizance of Conor McGregor’s comments and took to his Instagram handle to attack the former dual weight champion in a rather sarcastic manner, “Conor, how many times are we going to do this? You start calling my name out, I clap back, then you go missing again. Let’s stop this game, bro. We know you’re not coming back to fight us. We know you need help.”

He further pulled some old scars out of history to shut ‘Notorious’, “You haven’t won a fight since 2020. The last Muslim fighter you sent location, he sent you to the hospital. So stop doing this to yourself. You don’t want this to happen again. I’d rather help you than fight you, bro. But if you do want to fight, Dana, hit my line.”

Conor McGregor has yet to make a comeback to the world of fighting after his exile from the Octagon in 2021. Well, the community was optimistic about his comeback in 2024, but after the UFC 303, things have changed drastically for the former dual-weight champion. After losing his chance to fight Michael Chandler, it appears that the Dubliner is willing to take a different route.

Well, was this the end of McGregor’s mocking? Well, certainly not, but what’s next for the welterweight champ? Let’s find out.

Belal Muhammad has options for his next endeavor

After defeating Leon Edwards to claim the welterweight belt for himself, Belal Muhammad got into the radar of an array of fighters, who wanted to claim the 170 lbs title. One such fighter is the undefeated Kazakhstan prospect Shavkat Rakhmonov. After Muhammad’s victory, Rakhmonov took to his X handle to congratulate him and challenge him for the fight. ‘Remember The Name’ agreed with his proposition but later declined.

Howe͏ver,͏͏ months ͏h͏ave pa͏͏͏s͏s͏ed since ͏t͏h͏en,͏͏ and it ͏ap͏pears that the we͏l͏ter͏we͏ig͏͏h͏t͏ champion has t͏o c͏hoos͏e an oppo͏nent f͏or͏ his fir͏s͏t tit͏le defense͏. It looks ͏like Shavkat͏ ͏R͏akhm͏onov is the ne͏xt man to͏ ch͏͏alle͏nge for t͏he 1͏70-pou͏n͏d ͏title. In his most recent confession, Belal Muhammad hinted that Rakhmonov will be his next fight, “The Pound for Pound podcast su**s, like I said. I was on there. Usman was terrible at talking; he was terrible at fighting. He got embarrassed a little bit at both ends. I was speaking and fighting. Sorry, Cejudo, I do like you tho. Shavkat, see you soon, boy.”

It seems like Muhammad considered and dropped McGregor as an option in the blink of an eye. It is unlikely that the former champion will walk right back into a title shot in a division where he is 2-1 as of 2020. That means McGregor is still without a fight, and not for lack of willing challengers.

Meanwhile, Shavkat Rakhmonov seems to be next in the line for the 170 lbs title but will the promotion let this match happen? Only time will tell. Regardless, what’s your take on his next match? State your thoughts in the comments below.
