Alexander Volkanovski is the current UFC featherweight champion. He beat Max Holloway to win the title at UFC 245 and has defended the title twice (UFC 251, UFC 266) since he won it. Recently, there were many reports going around that Volkanovski would take on ‘Blessed’ for his third title defense in March.

However, Holloway, unfortunately, will not be taking on the champion in March because of an injury. After ‘Blessed‘ withdrew, Henry Cejudo pushed for the fight.

In a recent interview with MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, Volkanovski weighed in on this.

Volkanovski said, “He’s always there trying to, you know, troll me and you know, get on my skin and make that fight happen… I don’t know how serious he is, but he seems like he’s serious about it. But again, you know what I mean like again people are going to say I’m running and whatnot. Like the UFC never bring up his name, ever. It was never mentioned to me. It was never even close to an option.”

“You know what I mean and you know how am I going to take it seriously if the UFC don’t take it seriously? And I don’t even know if Henry’s really taking it seriously… UFC were never going to bring it up. You know they’re thinking that what’s the point? You don’t deserve it. And then what if you do, somehow get it done. You’re just going to retire and do that. Even though I heard said Henry said ‘Oh I do that, I’ll stay’, and you know, I don’t think they believe that,” he added.

What’s next for Alexander Volkanovski?

Alexander Volkanovski is looking to fight as soon as he can and fans can expect to see him return to the octagon soon. According to reports, Volkanovski will take on Chan Sung Jung, AKA, ‘The Korean Zombie’ at UFC 273 for his third title defense.
