Conor McGregor has caused a frenzy in the MMA world with his debut on the big screen! The Irishman is a part of the upcoming ‘Road House’ remake which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and the release of its trailer has caused fans to sit up and take notice! The movie is set to be a “re-imagining” of the 1989 original which starred Patrick Swayze in the lead role of a bouncer tasked with protecting a ‘roadhouse’ in a small town.

Directed by Doug Liman, noted for his incredible work on action films like 2014’s ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, the movie also marks Conor McGregor’s first role in a major Hollywood production. ‘Road House’ will be making its world premiere on March 8 as a part of the South By Southwest or SXSW event, where it holds the prestigious spot of the opening night film! The movie will also have a wide release on Prime Video on March 21 where fans can enjoy it from the comfort of their homes.

Jake Gyllenhaal stars in the movie as Elwood Dalton, a former UFC middleweight fighter who finds himself working at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys and dealing with unforeseen circumstances. It’s also interesting to note that the original ’80s film took place in Missouri and not Florida.

Conor McGregor plays the role of Knox or simply put, the bad guy in the film! The rest of the cast includes Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Darren Barnet and Austin Post, more popularly known by his moniker, Post Malone!

The movie also features former UFC fighter Jay Hieron and some scenes that highlight Dalton’s past as a UFC fighter were filmed during the UFC 285 event in 2023!

But as fans await the release of the film to watch McGregor in action, a UFC legend has revealed his thoughts on his highly anticipated comeback against Michael Chandler!

In the buzzing speculation around the rumored Conor McGregor-Michael Chandler middleweight clash on June 29, Frankie Edgar, a seasoned UFC veteran, recently weighed in on his potential pick for the fight. Despite the absence of any official confirmation from the UFC regarding the fight as of now, there has been a lot of discussion amongst the MMA community regarding the bout.  

As such, during a recent Q&A session in Toronto before UFC 297, Edgar shared his perspective on the proposed matchup and McGregor’s claims of wanting to face Chandler at 185 lbs. He stated, “If this is at ‘85, I’m saying Chandler all the way, at ‘70, I think Conor has a shot in the first round, but I’m going Chandler.”

Edgar, having previously expressed interest in a fight with McGregor, also stated that he believes he would have fared well against “The Notorious” in his prime! As speculation continues to swirl around the McGregor-Chandler clash, Edgar’s insights add another layer to the anticipation as fans await with bated breaths for any news about the long-awaited clash between the fighters known for their incredible performances inside the Octagon!
