Fury, who has been seen as a good acquaintance if McGregor, praised Nurmagomedov for retiring as a champion and at the top of his game. However, it didn’t sit well with McGregor, who lashed out at him for an incident that happened the previous year. However, as Fury recalls, it was all for publicity and both of the combat sports superstars were in on it.

“Yeah, that was SuperBowl weekend, good time to get some publicity. Great timing, actually. Um, we were trending all over Instagram, Twitter, Facebook. So, pretty good, pretty good, pretty good work,” Fury said in a latest interview. “He’s alright, he’s a good fighter, isn’t he? He has been a good fighter in the past and it is what it is. Man’s doing his thing, earning a few quid, paying for his family. You can’t complain. Can you?”

“McGregor is about this big [pointing down] and I am about this big [pointing up]. So there’s nothing. How could there be any animosity?”

However, they seemed to have some differences over Fury’s behavior when his friend, Billy Joe Saunders’ father, was mistreated by security. It happened last year when Billy Joe Saunders was fighting Canelo and his father tried to get into the ring after he was defeated by the Mexican, but security stopped him and a scuffle broke out. Fury, who was close, did not intervene, and this led to him being criticized by many in the fight business.
