The retired MMA titan, Khabib Nurmagomedov, is renowned for his exceptional prowess in the Octagon. Recently, however, he has been drawing attention for different reasons. Far from the roar of the crowd, Nurmagomedov now wrestles with a different adversary – public backlash. With his recent promotional choices sparking an uproar, the fighter’s latest endorsement via an Instagram post has plunged him deeper into controversy.
‘The Eagle’s post-retirement journey has been bumpy and marred by controversial promotional ventures. First, it was his pivot into the volatile world of cryptocurrency through an endorsement of a non-fungible token (NFT). The disquiet grew louder when Nurmagomedov, known for his top-tier athletic lifestyle, promoted a sugar-laden children’s cereal. The past controversies had barely settled when a recent Instagram post put Khabib back in the line of fire.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Receives Backlash Over Latest Instagram Post
The fighter attempted to promote a product, FITROO Cereal, and met with a volley of criticism from his devoted fan base. Disappointed supporters pointed out the irony, “Let me guess- it helps you fight better in the cage. Kabib listen up, no cereal or any product helps you get tougher, so stop this”, “Absolutely sure he never eat that”. Others went further, and condemned Khabib’s promotional choice as detrimental to health, especially for children, “Selling garbage that bad for the body. Marketed to the children. Not good”.

More significantly, several fans speculated whether monetary gains were driving Khabib’s promotional strategies. One fan commented, “How much did you get paid for this, Haba?”. In response to the former champion’s continuous missteps, another remarked, “Surely you made enough money from fighting to not need to be shilling every terrible product possible?“. A similar sentiment filled the rest of the comments section of his post. A majority of the fans also expressed their disappointment in the UFC Legend’s corporate decisions:
- “Doing this stuff instead of being in the octagon is such a big shame…”
- “I am very disappointed, to advertise for junk food? serious? you the top athlete who I’m sure will never eat this shit because it’s just sugar and industrial additives (carcinogenic).”
Unfortunately for the retired UFC star, this is only the latest in a long list of blowback for his endorsements.
