Paulo Costa made a massive claim on his official Twitter recently as he teased a fight with former light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz. The Brazilian tweeted that he and Blachowicz could save the May 6 UFC card, which unfortunately lost its co-main bout between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush owing to an injury to the former.

Responding to these claims, Blachowicz came out with a tweet of his own and made a rather interesting disclosure for fans. While doing so, the 40-year-old also took a dig at the Brazilian, claiming that he’d make light work of Costa.

Jan Blachowicz makes a disclosure

‘The Polish Power’, in a fresh tweet, revealed that he had received an offer to fight Costa a few days earlier. Blachowicz claimed that although he agreed from his end, ‘Borrachinha’ was the one who rejected the offer.

The former champ also took this opportunity to take a dig at Costa, stating that he could knock out the Brazilian with ease.

“So a few days ago Paulo Costa got offered to fight me. I’ve said YES, he said – NO. The fight is OFF. How much juice does he need? 1 bottle of wine is enough to knock out this guy.” read his tweet.

His response came after a couple of teets from Costa, wherein the 31-year-old had offered to fight Blachowicz at light heavyweight on the UFC 288 card.

Paulo Costa offered to fight Blachowicz in an earlier tweet

Costa, in an earlier tweet, had expressed his desire to fight Blachowicz on the May 6 card. Stating that he would make a move up to 205 lbs, the Brazilian displayed his usual sense of humor with one of his secret juice references as well.

“May 6 PPV event is in trouble. Jan blachowicz vs Costa could be the salvation. I go up 205 on all juice. Let me know UFC,” he wrote, even asking the UFC to reach out to him.

While from Blachowicz’s tweet, it looks like negotiations didn’t work out, there’s no denying that a fight between these two stars would definitely have been a mouth-watering prospect for fans.

Although it might not have come to fruition now, Costa’s new deal with the promotion means that the Brazilian should be facing someone very soon. Blachowicz is definitely one of the bigger names that he could fight, while his history with Khamzat Chimaev is also another fight that could get the interest of the matchmakers.
