Humble Khabib Nurmagomedov Sends Heartfelt 5-Word Message to His Coach After Being Honored

Khabib Nurmagomedov has achieved everything there is to achieve as a fighter in the sport. The man from the mountains conquered the UFC Gold and became one of the most dominant fighters the sport had ever seen. The undefeated fighter then took on a new challenge in his career, the one to become a coach. He followed in his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s footsteps. ‘The Eagle’ now guides fellow fighters to achieve greatness in their career, along with his coach, Javier Mendez. Recently, Nurmagomedov posted a beautiful message for his coach following the recent accolade that the duo won.

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Coach Javier Mendez have won the co-coaches award due to their recent success together in 2022. The duo of coaches saw their fighters perform at the highest level throughout the MMA world. Javier Mendez sent a heartfelt message to MMA Junkie for giving him this award.

Moreover, he also felt honored to share this award with his former pupil, Khabib Nurmagomedov. He said in the video, “I wanna thank MMA Junkie for voting Khabib and I as the co-coaches of the year. It’s a great honor for me to have Khabib as a co-coach with me. We had a very good year, 2022. And looking forward to better years to come. Again, I wanna thank MMA junkie for giving us this great award. Thank You.”

Furthermore, Nurmagomedov sent a response to Mendez over his Instagram story. The former UFC lightweight champion posted a story with a message for his coach. The Dagestani said, “Coach you are the best @akajav [Javier Mendez]”.

A daunting task for Nurmagomedov and Mendez ahead of 2023

The highlight of Nurmagomedov and Mendez‘s 2022 was when Islam Makhachev captured the UFC lightweight championship. This marked the second Dagestani champion to hold the UFC lightweight championship after Khabib Nurmagomedov.

However, as ‘The Eagle’ would know, it is one thing to capture a UFC gold and another to defend it. 2023 brings a voluminous task in front of Makhachev and his coaching duo as they take on Alexander Volkanovski in their first title defense at UFC 284.
