UFC 273 is less than a week away. Under the bright lights at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, a year’s worth of hard work and anticipation is about to be put to the test for Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling. With virtually no drawbacks for Petr Yan when it comes to the fight game with Sterling, his greatest challenge came in another manner that almost changed his title fight’s storyline.

Roughly a month before UFC 273, a huge bomb landed in Petr Yan’s lap in the form of Visa problems for his team. While Yan was allowed to enter the US to fight, the rest of his team was restricted. Hence, ‘No Mercy’ was left without his teammates ahead of UFC 273.

Speculation on Twitter was that former bantamweight champ Henry Cejudo would corner Yan along with current bantamweight star Sean O’Malley.

However, Petr Yan stated this ahead of his fight at UFC 273. I hope [Henry] Cejudo and Sean O’Malley are going to show up [To corner me] on Saturday night. Just need to make sure they don’t give me sh**ty advice. Just give me ice and water, and I’ll be fine.”

Cejudo did not take this lightly and clapped back on Twitter. He took jabs at not only Yan, but Sean O’Malley as well.

“Sorry buddy I ain’t nobody’s Waterboy! Between your knees and O’Malley’s steroids… it’s just too much illegal activity for me to be involved in. #bendthekneepotatoface 🥔🥔🥔 @PetrYanUFC,” tweeted Triple C

Henry ‘Triple C’ Cejudo is in no mood to babysit Petr Yan

Cejudo, who retired at UFC 249 after beating Dominick Cruz, transitioned from a world champion to a world-class coach. Hence, he would definitely want more involvement in the fight. He’s been at the crux of the training of various champions in the UFC

‘The Messenger’ cornered Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 270 and trained Zhang Weili for her fight at UFC 268. However, he is in no mood to be by his successor’s (‘No Mercy’ won the belt at UFC 251) side.

Now that Cejudo declined the offer to corner ‘No Mercy’, Sean O’Malley is yet to reply to the interim UFC bantamweight champion. If O’Malley were to back out as well, Yan may not have a corner.
