Marvin Vettori is looking to become the first-ever Italian UFC champion on June 12 at UFC 263. Vettori earned his title shot after winning five fights in a row. He defeated the likes of Kevin Holland, Jack Hermansson, and many more in his journey to the top. ‘The Italian Dream’ is ranked number three in the Middleweights rankings and is only behind Paulo Costa and Robert Whittaker. Now, he will go toe to toe with the undisputed Middleweight champion ‘The Last Stylebender,’ Israel Adesanya.

Marvin Vettori joined Brett Okamoto from ESPN MMA and shared his take on the fight. The challenger said, “It’s almost like basically ten days left until the fight. The camp is pretty much over and I feel the best I have ever felt.”

Vettori continued, “Technically and mentally, I am in the right place. So you know, like I couldn’t be the best version of myself for an occasion like this. And I did the extra on everything and I am the best version of myself and I am coming to conquer. I’m coming to win that belt and I’m coming to be the first Italian UFC champion ever.”

Israel Adesanya has defeated Marvin Vettori

Adesanya is the current Middleweight champion and will look to defend his title for the third time. ‘The Last Stylebender’ first became the interim champion by defeating Kelvin Gastelum in a fight of the year performance in 2019. Then he defeated Robert Whittaker to become the undisputed Middleweight champion. Since then, he has added two title defenses to his resume by defeating both Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa.

The champion has already defeated Marvin Vettori back in 2018. This was the time when ‘Izzy’ came in as a fresh entry into the UFC roster with only a single fight in the promotion. It was close-quarter combat that lasted for the complete three rounds. In the end, Israel Adesanya won the contest by split decision.
