Usually, UFC PPVs are built around title fights, but on this rare occasion, the promotion has agreed to make this non-title grudge match their feature fight.

In a recent conversation with Ariel Helwani, Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal shared his thoughts about the upcoming fight. There is indeed a lot of bad blood between the two former teammates and best friends, Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington. Gamebred has been quite critical of his nemesis’ approach and especially his trash talk that sometimes crosses the line of professional conduct.

“He is talking about ex-teammate’s wives and stuff like that for what? You’re gonna fight the dude or the chick? What is it you know? Pathway to victory for Jorge Masvidal

Miami’s very own superstar has landed himself in an unfavorable matchup, against who especially excels against an elite striker like him. Masvidal excels in the striking department and loves to fight on his feet. The 37-year-old fighter has already stated he respects the ground game but isn’t necessarily a fan of it.

Meanwhile, Colby is arguably the biggest threat as a wrestler, who can dismantle any offense with his superior wrestling. Hence, Masvidal needs to stuff those takedowns and try to close the fight in the early rounds as quickly as possible.

If the fight goes beyond the early rounds, then it would be an advantage for Covington.
