Max Holloway is making a comeback to the octagon after a year-long break. The last time we saw him was in July of last year, where he fought against the reigning featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, at UFC 276, and lost the bout via a unanimous decision. However, after more than nine months of taking a break from his last upset,  ‘Blessed’ one is all set to face an undefeated British fighter, Arnold Allen, at the next UFC fight night headliner.

Upon his return, the former UFC featherweight champion spoke about how he has been hearing people critique him behind his back. But he’s not one to let the naysayers get to him. He’s ready to put his best foot forward and prove his worth this weekend.

Max Holloway is aware of the trolls

During a recent interview with ESPN MMA, the 31-year-old fighter talked at length about his upcoming fight. When asked about his mindset going into the fight, he acknowledged that he’s well aware of all the “chatter” going around about him.

“I’ve been going out there, I’ve been hearing the chatter… I am hearing people calling me ‘Pillow Hands’ Holloway. So we gotta get back out there [and] I gotta finish.”, said Max Holloway.

He further added, “And if it’s not a finish then go get a kid or a kind of performance again… And then they get a moment, go out there and just take a look at a sore thumb.”

Moreover, the Hawaiian fighter acknowledges that the challenge ahead of him is a big one in Arnold Allen.

Acknowledging the threat ahead

Arnold Allen is an undefeated fighter, and he’s looking to go past Max Holloway, all the way to the title shot. But ‘Blessed’ is not one to overlook that fact whatsoever. During the same interview, when asked about what he thinks about his next opponent, the 31-year-old described him as a danger.

“Dangerous guy. Dangerous guy. 12 fight win streak, 10 fight win streak in the UFC. I’ve been there, I know how it feels. I know how he feels. He’s a young lion.”

Owing to the challenge ahead, Holloway is focused and ready to go the extra mile, knowing that the eyes of the world will be on him during the upcoming fight.
