UFC 282 saw Darren Till lose to Dricus Du Plessis. Darren Till came in to break his losing streak but failed. He was submitted by the South African in the third round. Although “The Gorilla ” looked good in the initial exchanges and UFC adjudged his fight ‘the fight of the night’, his performance was not enough to score a win. Rumors were ripe about Darren Till retiring from The UFC following his loss, but he has now refuted the claims with an update on his career. Fans can expect to see him fighting sometime next year. The Middleweight fighter stands at a career record that reads 18-5-1.

Darren Till started his fighting career at a very young age. Till started training in Muay Thai when he was only 12. He used to get in a lot of altercations in his initial days. He even survived a knife stabbing after a brawl at a party. Following this incident, he went to Brazil to train.

Darren Till refutes retirement rumors

As rumors about him leaving the UFC grew strong, Darren Till shared a video on his Instagram account with a battered blue left eye. He cleared the air about his retirement and said he wasn’t retiring. He did admit, however, that the losing streak was something he wanted to end.

He said, “I don’t know what to do properly but I think I will a little time off from the UFC. I don’t know and just rethink stuff”. He further added,I am not retired. I want to fight. I want to fight next year. But now, I just want to spend Christmas with my family, have a good time with my friends. And everybody who supports me, my team back home.”

‘The Gorilla’ gets appreciation from all corners

Despite losing his fight, Darren Till got appreciation from all corners including UFC president Dana White, former opponent Jorge Masvidal and recent south African opponent, Dricus Du Plessis. Dana White said that Darren Till’s stocks were not down, as he had a great fight.

Jorge Masvidal found Darren Till vs Dricus Du Plessis to be a good fight. Du Plessis said his opponent gave him a great fight but suggested that Till should get to welterweights. It’s now clear that he is not retiring, but it remains to be seen when he will make a comeback and against whom.
