“I Am Number 1 for This Title Match…”: Days After Being Slammed by Dana White, Merab Dvalishvili Comes Out With a Serious Allegation Against the UFC

Dana White, in his capacity as the UFC President, has grown the promotion as well as the sport exponentially. However, his time at the top has not been without its problems. Dana White has, many a time, come under the scrutiny of the fighters as well as the viewers. Recently, the UFC was faced with an anti-trust lawsuit put in motion by the fighters. But this time there seem to be some new allegations.

The complainant this time is Merab Dvalishvili, the UFC Bantamweight. The #2 ranked fighter has been scrutinized by White and some of the fans for the consequences of his friendship with the former Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling. The duo have agreed to not fight each other, forcing White’s resentment towards their decision. But in a new tweet, the Georgian fighter hit back at Dana White.

Dana White and Sean O’Malley get a “call out”

‘The Machine’ took to X to revisit some details. He mentioned how he had been asking the current champion Sean O’Malley, for a match for a very long time. He also stated his position on the rankings as the reason for his eligibility. Dvalishvili wrote, “Every UFC win since my 1st in 2018 I called out @SugaSeanMMA @ufc and Sean ignored my call outs.” The rant did not end there.

He also highlighted what he felt was hypocritical behavior on the part of the media. Having been under fire for refusing to fight the ‘Funkmaster’, Dvalishvili expressed his disappointment on the media’s apparent neglect of his callouts. He wrote, “I say I dont want to fight my teammate and brother @funkmasterMMA and the media goes crazy!If there is no immediate rematch I am Number 1 for this Title match.There should be NO questi

Dana White’s opinion on the friends’ stance

Previously, Dana White has expressed his disapproval of Sterling’s decision to not fight ‘The Machine’. In a recently uploaded story on Instagram, the president even threw shade on the duo’s decision. When the former two-time UFC Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas was faced with a similar predicament, she agreed to fight. White contrasted this behavior with that of the Georgian fighter’s and commented on it.
