“I Am the Double Champ”- Conor McGregor Makes His Case for an Immediate Title Shot

Conor McGregor claims he is still one of the best fighters in the world. ‘The Notorious’ has an illustrated career in the UFC; The man to dethrone the legendary Jose Aldo and demolish the UFC’s featherweight division, upon his debut in the UFC, went on to become the first simultaneous double champion in UFC history.

Also, what followed afterward, was unprecedented at the time. The UFC superstar did a crossover fight with the boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and held his ground. McGregor represented the boxing aspect of MMA, against, arguably, the greatest boxer in history.

However, when he came back to MMA, he couldn’t find the same success.

In an interview with Severe MMA, ‘The Notorious’ believes he still has a lot to show. Thus, when asked if he just hopes to compete more frequently, he said, “You’re damn right. I just want to compete. I know that I don’t get to prove that I am that man, I’m the double champ.”

“Bro, I went to the different sport, I came back. You know what I mean. I know that I don’t get to prove that, I know that. So, it’s just about getting back in competing; Getting myself, into pristine condition and going in and enjoying myself, putting on a show for the fans, you know what I mean, that’s it.”

During his run inside the UFC, the Irish superstar has taken a few long layoffs. Even the boxing bout with Mayweather took prime years of his career.

Conor McGregor will start boxing-sparring in April

The Notorious‘ gave a piece of good news to his fans when he revealed that he will be able to spar pretty soon. However, the Irishman also mentioned that the doctors had allowed him to do the boxing-sparring before, but then they delayed it, to this April. Thus, he was reluctant about the exact time frame for his comeback.

However, he confirmed that he is looking to make his comeback inside the octagon and has no interest in boxing for now. This comes as very welcome news for the UFC fans.
