Gregor Gillespie is not someone who prefers to call out other fighters. However, ‘The Gift’ broke his unspoken rule last year to call out Tony Ferguson. After ‘El Cucuy’ ignored his call out and instead picked on Michael Chandler as his next opponent, Gillespie took out his frustration on Ferguson.

The lightweight took to his social media channels to issue a threat to Ferguson and mentioned how he beat Michael Chandler in his college years.

“Just got a word again, my manager, that Tony Ferguson will not accept the fight against me, bro. And then I see you online tony, calling out f**king chandler, saying it’s wrestling season bro. Dude, you understand, like I am the wrestler bro. I beat the sh*t out of Mike Chandler in college, and I will f**k you up in wrestling, too. If you’re looking for the wrestler, bro, accept the fight, dude,” Gillespie warned Ferguson.

“I need to start climbing and none of you guys seem to want to f**king fight. Tony [Ferguson], me and you are f*cking available. We’ve been available since the same f*cking weekend. One weekend apart. I fought last and then you fought the weekend after. It’s time, bro. Let’s just f**king do it. Call f**king Chandler out cause it’s wrestling season. Get the f*ck out of here, bro. I’m the wrestler,” the 34-year-old continued.

How is Gregor Gillespie doing in the UFC?
Currently, Gillespie is on his quest to climb up the lightweight rankings. However, his quest has taken a backseat as he has fought just thrice since beating Vinc Pichel in June 2018. As Tony Ferguson (#7) sits just 3 ranks ahead of him, it would be a sensible booking.

The former NCAA Division 1 champion came to the UFC with an immaculate resume of 7-0. Furthermore, the top-class athlete cemented himself in the 155-pounds division with a 6-fight winning streak. Notably, he boasts of wins over Andrew Holbrook, Vinc Pichel, Jason Gonzalez among others.

However, Kevin Lee broke his streak back in November 2019 with a brutal head kick in the first round of their bout. Since then, ‘The Gift’ has returned to the win column with an exhilarating knockout win over veteran Diego Ferreira. Notably, this performance earned him the Fight Of The Night award, the second one in his UFC career.
